There are so many resources to assist parents in making the best decisions for their children. However, many times it is overwhelming. Below are a few I will find helpful as our family continues to grow.
This link provides ratings for movies, games, music, apps, and video games stating why or why it is not appropriate for children. There are also lists to help parents make the best decisions for music, videos, games, and apps.
Even though children may say they understand what it means to be safe online, there are many ways that other people can get their information. These kid-friendly videos through YouTube address issues such as giving out information, posting pictures, and cyber bullying to specific age groups.
The York County Public Libraries offer countless resources to parents and children. Library cards are free, and the children's floor at Guthrie Memorial Library (located at 2 Library Place off Baltimore Street) is beautiful and welcoming. From nonfiction to fiction and audio books on CD and on audiobook players, there are many ways for everyone to read. The library also uses Overdrive to download eBooks to iPad and iPod devices.
