Read 180 is a comprehension based reading program through Scholastic. Read 180 lasts 90 minutes each day. During this time, students are a part of whole group instruction and then three other rotations in small groups. The three other groups are small group led by the instructor, independent reading, and a software program that is adjusted to each student's level.
Whole group and small group instruction are based on using an rBook which includes engaging passages and colored photographs. During this time, students are introduced to new vocabulary, comprehension-based instruction, and fluency practice in order to increase their reading skills. Each set of stories is focused on a workshop.
Students are able to read interesting articles at home as well. These are called eReads. Reading these will count towards the number of books they have read. The link is listed below. Students log in using their username and password from school.
